May 27, 2019, 1:40 P.M.—Students marched to the Office of the Executive Director (OED) to protest the silence of the Board of Trustees (BoT) regarding the recent issues.
Several students from Batch 2019, alumni spokespersons, and Parent Teacher Council (PTC) representatives joined hands to demand justice and information regarding the BoT and the appeal to review the case of sexual harassment and voyeurism of six Batch 2019 students.
As the recent proceeding escalates and the BoT’s silence continues, students, alumni and parents protest in front of the Office of the Executive Director.
“We’re going to make a status report on the motion for reconsideration that the students and the parents filed with the BoT. We had a meeting this morning, and the result of that we will report on,” said Susan Fernandez, President of the Batch 2019 PTC.
A meeting was held this morning with several Batch 2019 parents and the OED. A resolution was promised to be made public by the Board of Trustees today, at 5 P.M.
Mrs. Fernandez further noted, “According to the Board, there is no final list of graduates issued by the BoT. Apparently, there is also no motion for reconsideration, even if we were made to submit an appeal.”
However, according to several Batch 2019 students, all names were announced during the graduation practices, including the six sexual offenders. This was done in the presence of Pisay faculty and the ManComm.
Representatives from Batch 1969 were also present today to make their letter of appeal public.
“All we want is for the BoT to hold in abeyance the graduation of Batch 2019 to give sufficient time for the issues to be given time, aired, and settled,” said Arnaldo Cuasay, Batch '69.
“Why is it that the only charge is voyeurism? The actions of these students show malice much deeper than simple voyeurism,” Cuasay added.
Batch 1969 refused to publicize their letter at this time, although it is expected to be made public soon.
Despite the backlash from multiple organizations, the Board of Trustees has been silent on the issue and has released no official statement to address the concerns of the students.
The Batch 2019 graduation ceremony is set to be held this Wednesday, May 29
