For this year’s 2024 Batch Council elections, two parties will be running. They are the H.E.A.R.T. Party and Young Active Leaders (YAL).

(From top to bottom, left to right: Tan, Bueser, Lozada, Dela Rama, and Panopio)

Running from H.E.A.R.T. Party are Elden Riguel Tan for President, Karl Gabriel Bueser for Vice President, Luc Lozada for Secretary, Katrina Isabella Dela Rama for Treasurer, and Anika Beatrize Panopio for Auditor.

“Our General Plan of Action is to ensure that every Batch 2024 student will have a fun, fruitful, and a year full of learning and more experiences. We also aim to ensure that everyone will enjoy doing recreational tasks such as the field trip, and at the same time have balance with requirements and school work.” — H.E.A.R.T. Party

(From top to bottom, left to right: Magpantay, Maguddayao, Aumentado, and Mendoza)

Running from YAL are: Sean Magpantay for Vice President, Zoriel Maguddayao for Secretary, Szean Amare Aumentado for Treasurer, and Martin Christian Mendoza for Auditor.

“Kahit sa oras na maraming kailangan at problema, may oras pa rin nilang ngumiti at mawala ang lungkot at pagod sa kanilang mukha. Sa tuwing hell week napakaraming kailangan na requirements. Kailangan nilang magporsige at sobra nilang binibigyan oras ang pag-aaral. Syempre kailangan din nilang tumawa at sumaya dahil ang ating batch ay isang pamilya.” — Young Active Leaders

In anticipation of the Miting the Avance tomorrow, both parties were interviewed about the elections and their plans for their batch.

What qualifies you to run? What do you aim to be as student leaders?

HEART: Experience. We aim to be the voice of Batch 2024, and at the same time, always keep an open mind about opinions and projects. We want to make the life of Batch 2024 here in Pisay better and easier. We also want to reach their expectations, which is to make Pisay a better community.

Young Active Leaders: We qualify to run because we all have histories of being student leaders from our past schools. As student leaders, we aim for our council to be more open to suggestions and be transparent with what we do.

What can you do for your batch (and possibly the whole Pisay community) if you win the elections?

HEART: We can represent our batch and be the bridge of communication towards other batches when needed. We will be the ones who will communicate with the public and other batches if there is something that needs to be changed.

Young Active Leaders:[What we can do is] to maintain peace and unite the batch as one. We will accept criticism. Listening is another thing we will do, so your voices can be heard and they will not keep things for themselves.

If a mix of both parties won, how would you be able to work together?

HEART: Even if we are different parties, all candidates ran for the same reason: to be able to serve our batch. We can use that to come together.

Young Active Leaders: Since we are still batchmates, we still have to cooperate and maintain the peace of our batch. We also have to work for the better. We will listen to each other even if we are from opposing parties. We must treat each other with respect and listen to their opinions even if it contradicts ours.

What are some things you plan on improving if you win?

HEART: We plan to improve communication, productivity, and our batch’s overall satisfaction in school through different projects. We will try to improve and be better versions of ourselves.

Young Active Leaders: We will have more batch-wide activities like Filipino games tournament. Not only will it make other students remember and keep our own culture, but we will also be united and work as a whole team. Our activities will focus on team building and helping each other.

How will you be able to make sure that your responsibilities as student leaders will not hinder your academic activities as well?

HEART: Keeping the balance between responsibilities and academics is hard, but through time management, we can balance both together. We can also set a schedule for the things that we will do to further help us balance our time.

Young Active Leaders: Like the saying, “’Pag gusto, may paraan. ‘Pag ayaw, may dahilan”, we will balance our time for the batch and and for ourselves. But of course, we will still make time for requirements and projects. We will also remember to prioritize the batch when there are problems that require immediate solutions.

To know more about your running candidates, their Miting De Avance will be held tomorrow, September 2, at the 3rd Floor Auditorium from 11:20 to 12:10 am. The link to their general plan of action can be found here:
